Sophia exemplifies what we strive towards breeding in every way; her breed type, conformation, movement, and overall appearance cannot be matched by any Malamute we've had the pleasure of owning. She is heavy boned, has a gorgeous tail set, beautiful luxurious coat, dark brown eyes, stunning head, and incredible personality to top it all off!
Sophia made her show career debut at the Scarborough Kennel Club dog show in Orangeville, Ontario in March 2013 at only 5.5 months of age. She won Best Baby Puppy In Show under judge Mr. Gerard Penta that weekend and multiple Baby Puppy Groups also.
In June 2013 at just 9 months
and 1 week old, Sophia finished her Canadian Championship with all
majors, in only a couple of weekends. In addition to becoming a new
champion that day, she also won Best Puppy In Group under judge Mr. Sean
Shields. A few weeks later she won a Group 2nd and went Best Puppy In
Show at the Bobcaygeon dog show. Sophia competed at our Canadian
Alaskan Malamute Nationals at only 13 months old, and went Best of
Opposite Sex at the Regionals, and Select Bitch at the National. She
earned her first Best In Show only 2 months later. Sophia finished out
the year as the #1 Alaskan Malamute Bitch in Canada, #3 overall. In
2014 Sophia headed to the US to work on her American Championship which
she did in only 2 weekends with all majors. She also remained in the
top 5 Malamutes in Canada with very limited showing. We started 2015 by
bringing Sophia back out in Canada, and she did not disappoint. In the
first weekend out, she picked up 3 Group 1sts and her second Best In
Show. We decided to breed her rather than continue showing her in 2015,
where despite that, she still finished the year as the #1 Alaskan
Malamute Bitch in Canada and #2 Overall.
After
taking a couple of years off from shows to mature (other than attending
the US Alaskan Malamute National in 2016 where she won the 1st Award Of
Merit), we brought her back out in Canada for 2018. Her first
weekend out she won 4 Group 1sts, 1 BIS and 1 RBIS, tying her for the
record as the winningest Alaskan Malamute Bitch in Canadian History. She just continued to soar all year picking up several more BIS's, shattering the record and making her the undisputed Winningest Alaskan Malamute Bitch in Canadian History. As if that wasn't enough, she also finished the year as Canada's #1 Alaskan Malamute. This means we now have 3 generations of #1 Malamutes in Canada with her Dad capturing that title in 2014, and her son Hawk being #1 in 2017. Sophia is always owner/handled.
Sophia truly has been a one in a million Malamute; she is my heart dog and the other half of my soul, so it was only fitting that she be the inspiration for our logo, which is based on a photo I took of Sophia a few years ago. She is now retired from our breeding program but remains our beloved house pet, sharing the couch and bed, and always there wanting to be cuddled, which of course, we do gladly!
