Our Policies
APPROVAL: We like to try and get to know each of our potential families before we approve your home for a puppy. You can always call us at 519-678-3949 or email ironpridemalamutes@yahoo.ca to let us know you are interested in a puppy and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Preference is always given to families who believe their dog is part of their family. We do not have a formal application, and instead, prefer to learn about our families through conversational emails or phone calls. Please send us an email to tell us about yourselves, your home, any experience you have with this breed or others, any other pets you have in the home, who will be living with the puppy, and why you want an Alaskan Malamute!
PRICING: Please contact us for current pricing of our puppies. All of our puppies are the same price regardless of colour, gender or litter. A specific colour or gender does not make a puppy more valuable than others. This is a tactic used by low caliber breeders whose sole goal it is to make money. We put the same care and effort into each puppy regardless of colour, gender or parentage, therefore our prices are the same for every single puppy.
DEPOSITS: Once you are approved for a puppy from us, you may place a deposit to reserve your spot on our waiting list. We do not reserve spots for anyone without a paid deposit, as this can make it difficult for us to know how many families we have genuinely interested in a litter. In an effort to always breed responsibly, we want to ensure we have enough qualified homes when planning our litters. After puppies are born, we contact all of the families on our waiting list who have submitted their deposits to confirm they would still like to take their puppy. If we do not have your desired gender available, the timing is not suitable for you to bring a puppy home, or you’ve had something else come up and need to move your deposit to a future litter, you may do so at this time. If you confirm you will be taking your puppy from that litter, and later cancel or change your mind for any reason, your deposit will be lost. All deposits are non-refundable. No exceptions.
VISITING: We do not allow visitors to see the puppies prior to their vaccines. Their immune systems are not strong enough to fight off any disease or infections that might be brought into our home by families prior to this time, and their safety and well being is our top priority. We also do not allow visitors while we have pregnant girls on the property for the same reasons. We try to keep their environment calm and quiet during this important time. We hope you understand. We would welcome anyone interested in our dogs to contact us for our show schedule, and come to a show to meet us and the dogs we have there.
SPAY/NEUTER: All of our puppies are sold on non-breeding, spay/neuter agreements. You are required to sign a contract to that affect. It is highly recommended that our puppies remain intact until 2 years of age to allow for proper growth and development. This drastically decreases the risks of bone cancer, torn ACL’s, hip dysplasia and other joint disease. Once an Alaskan Malamute reaches 2 years old, they are finished growing height-wise and it is now safe to spay/neuter your dog. However, we do understand that sometimes families can’t wait this long and need to spay/neuter prior to 2 years of age. Once your puppy has been spayed/neutered, you will provide us with a copy of the spay/neuter certificate or detailed paid invoice, and we will then provide you with your CKC registration papers.
BREEDING RIGHTS: Breeding rights are available to select experienced breeding kennels who breed Alaskan Malamutes registered with their counties' official Kennel Club. We do not sell breeding rights to pet homes or those with unregistered dogs.
SELECTING PUPPIES: Colour & gender are all taken into consideration, however ultimately matching the right temperament and personality to the individual home is most important. All puppies are cute, but making sure you are getting a puppy that will be suitable to your lifestyle and family, as well as any other pets currently in the home, is crucial - we want everyone to be happy for many years to come.
PUPPY PICK UP: Puppies are able to go home at 8 weeks of age once they have been vaccinated and health checked by our licensed veterinarian. Any puppies not picked up at 8 weeks of age will be charged a boarding fee starting the day after their 8 week birthday (providing we are available to keep your puppy longer). Puppies require a lot of extra care and training after 8 weeks of age. We start them on basic obedience, leash training, crate training and house training at this time. The boarding fee is $45 per day for puppies up to 10 weeks of age and includes food. If you cannot pick up your puppy on time and need him/her to stay with us after the scheduled pick up day and time, be sure to contact us right away to see if we are available to care for your pup past 8 weeks.
RETURN/RE-HOME POLICY: In the case that you can no longer care for your dog for any reason, he/she will be returned to us for rehoming. Your CKC registration papers for your dog are required to be returned with the dog and signed over to us so that the new owner may obtain registration once a new home is found. A copy of your dogs vet records are also required and every dog must be current on vaccines, flea/tick/deworming treatment as well as kennel cough vaccine. Any personal effects you would like to return with your dog to make your dog's transition that much easier are greatly appreciated. Once the dog is back in our care, he/she then becomes the property of Ironpride Alaskan Malamutes. No refunds are given regardless the age of the dog or circumstance surrounding the return.
We reserve the right to deny/decline any person for any reason.
Your puppy will not be held without a deposit.
All payments are non-refundable once paid.
